Invisalign® Can Correct Minor Alignment Issues with Your Teeth

As you grow older it’s possible for the structure of your mouth and the alignment of your teeth to change. This is even more likely to be the case if you are missing a tooth or you had a minor alignment issue go uncorrected in your youth.

One easy way to correct minor alignment issues with your teeth is to have Dr. Martin Trockel and the orthodontic specialists at his clinic fit you for Invisalign® braces. In many cases these clear plastic aligners can correct the alignment of your teeth without need of traditional braces hardware.

Dr. Martin Trockel will start with a thorough examination of your teeth. This helps to determine the overall health of each tooth and determine the number of aligners needed to fully correct your teeth.

A detailed impression of your teeth will then be prepared and sent to the Invisalign® dental lab. Their technicians will use this to develop a series of custom aligner trays. Each set of aligners is designed to gradually stretch the periodontal ligaments anchoring your teeth into the sockets.

You will need to wear the Invisalign® aligners in your mouth for at least 20 hours each day. Every two weeks you will need to change to a new set of custom aligners. Each one is tuned to be one step closer to your ideal smile. By wearing the aligners during the prescribed times, you will likely reach your alignment goals in around six to eight weeks.

While you’re wearing Invisalign® in your mouth you can drink and speak normally. However, you will need to remove them before you eat. It’s important that you don’t smoke or chew gum while the aligners are in your mouth. When you take them out you should store the aligners in the case provided.
